Make Gmail your default mail app on iPhone & iPad

If available on your iPhone or iPad, you can set Gmail as the default app when you compose new emails.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, go to your Default Apps settings.
    • To find these settings, you may need to download the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
  2. Set Gmail as the default mail app. Learn how to change your default apps for features on iPhone and iPad.

Add Gmail to your dock 

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, tap and hold the Gmail app .
  2. Drag the Gmail app down, and release it on your dock.
